National Abortion Provider Appreciation Day

March 10, 1993, marked the tragic murder of Dr. David Gunn by an anti-abortion extremist. In remembrance of Dr. Gunn and in recognition of the dedicated individuals providing abortion care, March 10 was established as the National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers starting in 1996. This day serves to honor the lives and commitment of those involved in the compassionate provision of abortion services.
